Construction Update
Road Upgrades Continue in Kalaeloa Town

The mauka portion of FDR Avenue was opened to traffic in December, after streetlights were turned on. This segment of roadway, from Copahee Avenue to Kamokila Boulevard, is now four lanes wide.
Roadwork continues on the southern portion of the Kamokila Boulevard extension and on Boxer Road.
Copahee Avenue – the last road that will be completed – remains closed to the public. Hunt Companies Hawai‘i is currently installing additional drainage and electrical infrastructure, as well as sidewalks and street lighting. When completed, Copahee Avenue (owned by the City and County of Honolulu) will be upgraded to current City standards.
The opening of the southern portion of Kamokila Boulevard and Boxer Road is tied to the completion of Copahee Avenue. All are anticipated to open in the third quarter of 2025.
“Mahalo to all of our contractors and HECO for their hard work to improve and upgrade these critical roads in Kalaeloa,” said Tony Gaston, senior vice president at Hunt Companies Hawai‘i.
